Abstract: Right after obtaining his license from the university the young specialist is ready to occupy his place in the labor market and his performance will exert a powerful influence over his image as a specialist and on the image of his university. Nowadays the education process is focused on creating competencies and not so much on memorizing large amounts of data on short term. The student-teacher communication plays an ever so important role in developing critical applied competencies and the small number of conventional classes for each discipline combined with the less than necessary 80 minutes per week for dialog with the students does not make the academic process easier. Thanks to the popularity and availability of the internet connected personal computers the online communication channels are now available for being used by teachers and students alike. This article is based on a 3-groups experiment (one control group and two experimental groups) that analyzes the impact of using email, instant messaging and voice chat over the performance of the students. The paper is focused on the particularities of the implementation of these communication channels and its benefits for the students, teachers and employers.
