Abstract: At the moment, the garment industry can be considered one of those priority ones in the Republic of Moldova, given it is mostly export oriented. It is also the only industry in Moldova which is geographically fully represented all over the republic, and employs impressive number of persons, majority of whom are women from rural areas. At the same time, mention should be made that the work scheme (LOHN production) used by most of the Moldovan apparel companies, brings the lowest value added, which in turn, hampers the companies from maintaining the long-term growth. The given article highlights some results of the research and practical implementation of different work schemes/models that should be applied in the apparel industry in order to ensure a higher value added, and the companies’ sustainable growth. In addition, the results of the new schemes applied at several Moldovan apparel are presented in the paper.
