Abstract: The article outlines the methods of influence to economic development through credit and monetary policies, which in turn includes mechanisms and tools of this influence. The mechanism of monetary and credit policy transmitting is described. In relation to the specific of the banking activity, income from transmitting for a separate bank and the central bank is not the income within the financial meaning of that term. It is a traditional source, which is at their disposal and uses them to provide the activity status. There are considered monetary and exchange rate policies appropriate to the economic situation promoted by the National Bank of Moldova which are oriented towards accomplishment of its main objective – achieving and maintaining currency stability by creating conditions in the money market, credit and foreign exchange based on market economy principles.
