Abstract: The article discusses some aspects of small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SME) access to financial resources. The existence of “SME Financing Gap” is confirmed by the example of foreign countries and the Republic of Moldova. The sources and mechanisms of SME financing in Moldova have been summarized: loans of commercial banks and microfinance institutions, resources of the Credit Guarantee Fund, the means of national and international projects. The examples of various studies, including the survey conducted in IEFS with the author’s participation, show that the problem of access to finance remains one of the most critical for the majority of Moldovan SMEs.
